LETTER: Chicken imports are the problem
Imports are not the answer to the local supply problem — they are the cause of that problem

There’s a huge flaw in the arguments presented in favour of chicken imports in "Crying Fowl" (Features, September 19-25) (https://www.businesslive.co.za/fm/features/2019-09-19-sas-poultry-producers-cry-fowl/). Imports are not the answer to the local supply problem — they are the cause of that problem.
Importers pretend that imports are necessary to fill the gap between local supply and increasing local demand...
