A recent judicial gathering in Uganda put human rights front and centre — but host Yoweri Museveni seemed less enthusiastic about the subject
The scene: a conference centre on the edge of Lake Victoria, in the Ugandan capital of Kampala, where the chief justices (or a representative) from more than 50 countries were gathered for Africa’s biggest judicial event.
Every second year, the African Court on Human & Peoples’ Rights hosts a "judicial dialogue" on human rights. But this year, for the first time, it was not held in the court’s base at Arusha, Tanzania.
