CARMEL RICKARD: A legal honey pot
Litigants are buzzing around an Eastern Cape farm, with court action so far drawing in the land bank, land minister and potential buyers, among others
Like bees around a source of sweetness, litigants are swarming around three Eastern Cape properties known collectively as Honeyville Farm.
The farm, near Humansdorp, was registered to CPAD Farm Holdings after the Land & Agricultural Development Bank of SA gave CPAD a loan. When CPAD failed to repay that loan as agreed, the bank obtained a judgment in its favour and the properties were attached by the sheriff of the court.
