I’ve written about a whole bunch of stuff in my life. Food, education, politics, drink, labour unions, fashion, business and economics, even romance. But what I should have focused on, and what the ANC, the DA and even the policy-free MK Party should be focusing on, is this: how is it even possible for the 24-year-old men and women in South Africa to have sex lives?
Think seriously about the life of a 24-year-old. First, they are unemployed. That’s because youth unemployment (measuring job-seekers between 15 and 24 years old) is off the charts in this country. It stood at 59.7% in the first quarter of 2024, compared with 59.4% in the previous one...
