The problem with our current national condition is that one forgets the good stuff. We are all so busy kvetching and raging against the Zumas, the Guptas and their looting relatives and mates that we forget that we are more than this. Not that I blame you for forgetting the good stuff. I do it often myself. I wasn’t at the launch of Jacques Pauw’s The President’s Keepers in Johannesburg last week but I can imagine one would have forgotten the good life when the lights went out. The secret service said it wasn’t responsible — then it charged Pauw for telling us the truth about its thieving. Mmmm. Every so often I get asked what my top restaurant in Joburg is.
