As I was saying before I was so rudely interrupted by yet another court case involving our dear president, I ate a lot in Amsterdam. You have to grit your teeth and tuck in despite the currency being so weak that every time you buy something you feel as if you are giving SAA or PetroSA a bailout. But you have to eat. By the way, who pays Jacob Zuma’s legal fees? The man seems to be keeping the SA legal fraternity afloat all on his own. He was right when he said, in his first state of the nation speech way back in 2009, that he would create 500,000 jobs. He must have by now — in the legal fraternity. Every time he loses he is slapped with a costs order, which means he pays his own lawyers as well as those of the other side.Anyway, two restaurants in Amsterdam stood out in my 10 days of gourmandising.
