I don’t know about you, but when I was in my teens I would gorge on those horror flicks that Hollywood churns out with chilling regularity. My mates and I would hold our breath as the villain was killed off after a titanic struggle. But ... as the hero walked off to kiss the damsel whose life he’d just saved, the dastardly villain would rise from the mud where he had just been obliterated and stagger towards the unsuspecting hero. We would draw our breath as the villain’s blade came slicing down! At the very last moment the hero would turn around and the blade would miss him by an inch. The hero then killed him, possibly with his own blade, before returning to the damsel. But the bloody villain would not be done for — and he’d get up and stagger towards the hero again ...
