GlencoreRemarkable as it may seem to attribute anything but the loftiest motives to those who buy ink by the barrel, there may have been just a hint of schadenfreude about the alacrity with which the commentariat jumped all over Glencore in its time of wobble. Perhaps it was the sheer scale of the fortunes amassed by its leadership team. And it was certainly not helped by CEO Ivan Glasenberg’s dismissive attitude to the concerns raised, but there was definitely a sharpening of the guillotine and a rush to the front row.
