It’s got indecent quantities of scenery, political stability, a growing economy, friendly if gigantic people and, with seven sheep per human, it offers unrivalled odds to admirers of our woolly friends. New Zealand has always been an incredible place for a holiday, but the fact that it’s absolutely miles from anywhere has put a bit of a kibosh on its status as a place to notch up a second home. Until now, that is, when all of a sudden it is that very remoteness that is becoming a major part of its attraction.
