A not-so-easy reading roundup for the holiday
I thought that for the final Bruce’s List of the year I’d just steer clear of President Jacob Zuma, the Guptas, Hlaudi Motsoeneng and all the oily, lying creeps we have running our country. Instead, I’ll concentrate on the US, where another bunch of oily, lying creeps is about to take power. Donald Trump’s victory will mean the biggest shake-up our world has seen since the last world war. Trump’s closest SA equivalent is Motsoeneng — both simply do not care for tradition, experience, wisdom or decency. Trump will break old ties and build new ones, always looking out for his own business interests in the process. He can’t help himself. His entire life has been the very antithesis of service. Yes, he may spur a bit of a recovery with a big infrastructure programme at home and, yes, he might cut corporate taxes.
