Humans are innovative creatures. We actively look for ways to change the status quo and improve things. This is one of the things that separates us from almost all animals. More importantly, this burning desire for progress is what leads to disruption in industries.
Investors need to constantly be on the lookout for disruptive forces. If you’re on the wrong side of them, it can be painful. If you’re on the right side of them, you can create generational wealth. Though it’s rare for a true disruptor to be a public company, it does happen. The more common situation is that listed companies need to fight off disruptors, many of which are funded by venture capital and private equity balance sheets. ..
