Selling toys to children may be good business, but getting adults to fall in a love with a game is where the real big bucks lie
Life is a bit crazy, isn’t it? The stresses of adulting are severe, with the birth rate proving that things aren’t straightforward for modern families. The cost of living is high, we never seem to be able to switch off our phones and the days of a middle-income job providing a house, two cars and meaningful prospects for 2.4 children are long gone. More and more people are seeking an escape of some sort, if only for a couple of hours.
Enter the business of play: companies that exist to provide people of all ages with the opportunity to have fun. Whether in front of screens or with some sort of tabletop game, giving consumers a way to decompress is a multibillion-dollar industry...
