Conflating the health of our democracy with the strength of our media is very much an inexact science. For some of us, it’s sometimes more an article of faith.

The latest “Digital News Report” (https://reutersinstitute.politics.ox.ac.uk/) of the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism provides interesting insights into the state of the media globally. In a survey of 46 markets, it includes only three countries from Africa: Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa. ..
