Bitcoin is having a moment, again. The most widely traded cryptocurrency has soared above $18,000, more than doubling since the end of 2019. On the Chicago Mercantile Exchange the number of bitcoin futures and options contracts that are open has quadrupled since this time last year to more than 12,000, according to Commodity Futures Trading Commission data collated by Bloomberg.
