It has been a good year for the green building movement in SA, but the global environmental and political reality is moving faster — and more broadly. The local commercial and residential property sectors have continued a slow and steady uptake of sustainability measures, and the traction in the commercial market is broadening into hitherto unexplored building types. The feel-good factor around green buildings is established in the market, and there are now several excellent green precincts in SA. Technical capacity is increasing and green building practice is cost-normalised.
