French-inspired chef branches out in new venture
Switching to take-homes
Chef and food stylist Robyn Timson is putting the finishing touches to the take-home and catering menus of the Arbour Café — the restaurant she has just sold and which remains a favourite among brunch-loving health nuts in the Johannesburg suburb of Illovo.
The new menus at Arbour will allow customers to pre-order and collect meals, which are mostly main courses freshly made on order, not pre-packaged or frozen. There will also be function menus, canapé menus and banquet-style menus, all tailor-made to suit individual tastes, religious affiliations and numbers.
So your entire Spring dinner party or Sunday brunch can be prepared by one of Johannesburg’s top chefs.
Timson trained at the Prue Leith Chefs Academy in the UK and spent time in Paris, where she discovered the joy of crêpes. As a result, the menus are French-inspired, wholesome, hearty meals which draw inspirations from stews, curries, coq au vin and casseroles,
And if you don’t want to try the new take-home menus, you can always sit down for a meal at the Arbour Café, which is dog-friendly and equipped with free Wi-Fi.
