FILM FESTIVAL: Directors and actors line up for Durban
Focus on German movies
The 38th Durban International Film Festival begins this month with some strong German movies in the lineup. Among the films being screened is Goodbye Berlin which ties in with this year’s overall theme of transit tales. All of a Sudden, Greetings From Fukushima, Paula and Karl Marx City relate to women-led films, another of this year’s focus areas. Audiences will have the chance to meet Goodbye Berlin actors Anand Batbileg and Tristan Göbel after the movie’s screening at the Playhouse Drama Theatre on July 16. Other German films at the festival are Der Geilste Tag/The Most Beautiful Day; Der Staat gegen Fritz Bauer/The People vs Fritz Bauer and Fado. The festival runs from July 13-23 at various cinemas in Durban. Tickets for the German gala screening and the festival are available through Computicket.
