As I write this copy, in mid-May, I have to ponder how the pending national elections will pan out and what their impact will be on the JSE. When this edition of IM hits the news stands the results will still be unknown and the swirl of anxiety and uncertainty in financial markets will be palpable.
IM editor Marc Hasenfuss wrote a special feature in the FM mid-month about bargain stocks available on the JSE. Many are trading at ludicrously low valuations and have solid prospects, given the resilience of their businesses. Yet the market remains unmoved — nervous, perhaps, of investing in domestic-focused stocks such as Lewis, Oceana, Sea Harvest and Zeda...
