Private Chinese manufacturer Huawei brought its newest flagship smartphones, the P9 and the P9 Plus, to SA last month with great fanfare.And the world seems ready to embrace this ambitious brand. Last week, Huawei SA announced in a press release that the P9 and P9 plus have had “unprecedented sales” in SA, though the company had no hard numbers to share yet. The announcement follows the two phones’ local launch at the beginning of June.Globally, Huawei has sold 2.6m of these devices, up 130% from what sales were at this stage after the launch of the well-received P8 of last season.The P9 is a great device, giving Huawei a lot to crow about, and it is no surprise that the company is pleased with its performance to date.The phone is distinctly high-end — a cool, slim, metal-and-glass unibody, available in the colours “haze gold”, “ceramic white” and “titanium grey”.The screen of the P9 is 5.2inches, that of the P9 Plus5.5 inches, and both have a resolution of 1,080p (full HD).
