Business schools globally are losing out to management consultants and skills specialists in the contest to provide executive education, says Jan Ginneberge of the European Foundation for Management Development. Ginneberge says less than half the money budgeted by companies for executive development now goes to business schools. "Consultancies take a big slice of the rest but there is also a growing share for small shops that specialise in things like coaching, mentoring and experiential learning," he says.
