Rumour has it Charlize Theron is in talks with South African movie producer Anant Singh for a local version of the movie The Italian Job. It's called The Mzansi Job, and scriptwriters are apparently trying to get their heads around an implausible plot of how an immigrant family turn a political elite with revolutionary credentials into a heartless mafia hellbent on self-enrichment. It promises to be great. Charlize plays an FBI agent tasked with uncovering corporate complicity in a dastardly plot implicating what were once some of the world's most respected names in accounting, consulting and computing. It will be action-packed, and the drama will be enhanced by the fact that her South African law-enforcement counterparts are anything but co-operative. I'm giving away too much. Here is the biggest spoiler: The Italian Job is famous for its fast driving scenes in which the robbers wreak havoc in a fleet of new Minis. I am told that the local version involves those with the blue light...
