Wage negotiations started in the platinum sector this week but some analysts do not expect the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (Amcu) to secure its demand for a basic monthly wage of R17,000, even though platinum prices have risen.

This week's negotiations came on the back of a five-month gold strike at Sibanye-Stillwater, where Amcuwalked away without the R12,500 wage it had demanded.
