More than 2,000 jobs are on the line at MultiChoice's call centres and client-facing offices as the entertainment group steels itself for an onslaught by digital rivals.

MultiChoice, which was unbundled from Naspers earlier this year, said on Friday it would start a consultation process in terms of section 189 of the Labour Relations Act with 2,194 employees.
