That sets what is believed to be a new record for asking prices in Gauteng, albeit still less than half the R250-million that insurance tycoon Douw Steyn forked out in 2014 to build his lavish Tuscan mansion at mixed-use lifestyle estate Steyn City in Fourways. The Gatsby house, in St Patrick Road, Houghton, which spans four levels and 2,000m² of floor space, is built on the scale of a luxury boutique hotel. It features eight en suite bedrooms as well as its own nightclub, spa and conference facilities. Finishes include solid marble balustrades imported from Turkey and chandeliers from Europe.
