Amman — A military media unit run by Damascus ally Hezbollah said early on Thursday that overnight contacts succeeded in reviving a ceasefire that would lead to the evacuation of rebels from Syria’s Aleppo city "within hours". "Intensive contacts between the responsible parties involved in the negotiations led to reconsolidating a ceasefire to exit armed fighters from eastern districts in the next few hours," the unit said in a statement. Hezbollah is an armed Lebanese Shiite political group backed by Iran that is heavily involved in the fighting in Aleppo. Syrian rebels had earlier announced the ceasefire was back on track and the evacuation was set to start at 6am, but a source close to Syria’s government denied the development and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said hostilities continued.
