Berlin — German economy minister Peter Altmaier called on Friday for Europe to remain unified in the face of rising trade tensions with the US, saying it was unclear how a summit of the Group of Seven (G-7) rich nations would end. "We have a serious situation, not just since last night or this morning, but rather the entire last few weeks," Altmaier told broadcaster ZDF. US President Donald Trump said on Friday he wanted to use the G-7 summit to resolve what he called unfair trade deals with US allies, AFP reported. "Looking forward to straightening out unfair Trade Deals with the G-7 countries. If it doesn’t happen, we come out even better!" Trump wrote as part of a blast of early morning tweets ahead of the meeting on Friday and Saturday in Canada.
