Australian attorney-general denies 1988 rape claim
Christian Porter refutes the claim and the matter has been closed due to a lack of evidence to investigate further

Canberra — Australian attorney-general Christian Porter, the country’s chief law officer, identified himself on Wednesday as the subject of a historical rape allegation, declaring his innocence and strongly denying the claim.
Politicians who received an anonymous allegation last week of an assault in 1988, when Porter would have been 17, referred material to federal police. On Tuesday, police in New South Wales state, where the alleged assault occurred, said there was insufficient evidence to investigate the claim and closed the matter...
