The new White House communications director confirms Trump ‘likely wants’ the attorney-general gone and wants to fire the head of the Russia investigation
New York — US President Donald Trump ratcheted up his criticism of his attorney-general, Jeff Sessions, on Tuesday, and a top aide said the president likely wants Sessions gone and has recently considered firing the head of the FBI’s Russia investigation. "Attorney-general Jeff Sessions has taken a VERY weak position on Hillary Clinton crimes (where are E-mails & DNC server) & Intel leakers!" Trump tweeted on Tuesday morning, the latest volley in an apparent campaign to pressure Sessions to quit. Trump has said he is angry that the former Alabama senator, one of the first members of congress to support his presidential campaign, recused himself from the Justice Department’s probe into Russian meddling in the 2016 election.
