Harare — The Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association had the last laugh this weekend when President Robert Mugabe was recalled by the ruling Zanu-PF party as its leader. Further giving a boost to the war veterans was the spectacle of hundreds of thousands of Zimbabweans attending a solidarity march held in Harare in a public push to force the long-time leader to step down. The war veterans and Mugabe have been at loggerheads since the former guerrillas penned a damning communiqué in July last year, condemning Mugabe for "abhorable and poor leadership". In an interview with Business Day on Friday, Christopher Mutsvangwa, chairman of the veterans association, expressed delight with the military intervention rolled out last week.
