Bafana Bafana’s preparations for their 2018 World Cup qualifier against Cape Verde next week suffered a setback on Wednesday, when No1 goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune withdrew from the squad. This follows one of the back-up keepers, Darren Keet, pulling out earlier in the week. "Goalkeepers Itumeleng Khune and Darren Keet have been withdrawn from the squad that will take on Cape Verde in back-to-back 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifiers‚" said the South African Football Association. "Khune is down with a chest infection, while Keet is suffering from a knee injury." Bafana coach Stuart Baxter has called up Reyaad Pieterse and Wayne Sandilands as goalkeeper replacements. SA take on Cape Verde on September 1 at the Estadio Nacional stadium in Cape Verde (8.30pm kick-off) and will return home on Saturday and then head directly to Durban for the return leg on September 5.
