Woods surprised by overwhelming support from fans
Paramus — Fourteen-time Major winner Tiger Woods says the support he has received from the galleries in 2018 shows how "appreciative" fans are of his latest comeback effort. The 42-year-old underwent a fourth back operation in April 2017 that caused him to question whether he would ever play competitive golf again. But since his return to the sport in November, Woods has gradually played his way into form and looked close to his best when he finished second at the recent PGA Championship. "I think people are more appreciative," Woods said ahead of a practice round at Ridgewood Country Club on Tuesday. "They’ve all gone through it — when you get to your 40s, you’re feeling it. They know I’m at the tail-end of my career. I don’t know how many years I’ve got left, but I’m certain I’m not like I was when I was 22. At 42, it’s a different ball game."
