DA wants former ANC councillor for Joburg investigated for gross misconduct
Just moments before the vote on a motion of no confidence in Joburg mayor Herman Mashaba‚ the DA put a motion before the council calling for an investigation into a former member of the mayoral committee for having instructed that city funds be used for a private funeral. The DA accused Matshidiso Mfikoe, the former member of the mayoral committee for environment and infrastructure services, of issuing an instruction to Pikitup to pay more than R400‚000 for a private funeral for a manager at the company who was a member of the ANC. Presenting the motion‚ in the presence of Mfikoe‚ Nico De Jager, who took over the portfolio in the new administration said: "[This was done] in spite of the funeral policy that clearly states how entities may assist with funerals of employees.
