The South African Communist Party (SACP) will on Monday notify the ANC of its decision to contest future polls and will reiterate its call for President Jacob Zuma to step down. Deputy general secretary Solly Mapaila said the SACP had requested Monday’s meeting with its alliance partner to brief ANC officials on the decisions the SACP had taken at its congress and to reaffirm its view that the president stepping down would be a "contribution toward finding solutions to the challenges" facing the alliance. The SACP is forging ahead with its plan for contesting elections, while intensifying work on the creation of a "popular front" of working-class formations and a "patriotic front" against state capture.
