Parliament remained tight-lipped on Thursday as to when Speaker Baleka Mbete will decide on the voting procedure for the no-confidence debate, but confirmed she would make her choice before the day of the sitting. The motion of no-confidence debate in President Jacob Zuma is scheduled to take place on Tuesday next week and the method of voting is seen by some observers and opposition parties as crucial for the outcome, amid growing calls within the ANC and its alliance partners for Zuma to step down. Opposition parties, particularly the EFF, want a secret ballot. The DA, which wanted Mbete to make her decision by July 21, said this week that evidence of intimidation of ANC members means a secret ballot was warranted.
