More ANC MPs are likely to openly endorse an opposition motion to remove President Jacob Zuma from office, but the numbers will not be enough for the motion to succeed, say party insiders in Parliament. The ANC in Parliament has called on the party’s national leadership to discipline one of its MPs who publicly pronounced he would not vote according to the party line in the coming motion of no confidence debate in Zuma. Mondli Gungubele stated last week he was prepared to break ranks and vote in favour of the opposition motion to remove Zuma from office. "I find it difficult to have confidence in the president," Gungubele reportedly said. Last week, the ANC in KwaZulu-Natal initiated disciplinary proceedings against ANC MP Makhosi Khoza, who has criticised Zuma openly and called for his resignation.
