Only a "bewitched" political party would vote to remove its president at the behest of the opposition, ANC chief whip Jackson Mthembu said on Tuesday. Speaking in the National Assembly during the debate on Parliament’s budget vote, Mthembu made it clear that ANC MPs would toe the party line and vote against the opposition motion of no confidence in President Jacob Zuma. "I will not vote in accordance with any dictates of any other party under the disguise of a so-called conscience vote," said Mthembu. "It’s only a bewitched party that can do so to its own government. It is very surprising that ANC members of Parliament are expected to vote against their own decisions and resolutions."
