Khaya Magaxa is set to be the beneficiary of Marius Fransman’s fall from grace. Magaxa, Fransman’s deputy in the Western Cape and the South African Communist Party secretary in the province, is all but guaranteed to take over from the man he has deputised. Fransman has been found guilty the ANC’s national disciplinary committee on two counts of misconduct, with his party membership suspended for five years. The ANC found Fransman guilty of abusing office in an attempt to obtain sexual favours from PA Louisa Wynand, 21, and for making public statements which brought the party into disrepute. ANC Western Cape spokesman Yonela Diko said Magaxa would continue to act as party leader until the provincial executive committee met at the end of November when a decision will be made on who will lead the party in the region.
