Peter Bruce’s excuses for voting ANC are simply incomprehensible. After 25 years of ANC misrule he believes the ANC can change its spots, from a leopard to a buffalo. Dream on, I say.

He commits to voting ANC provincially because the DA colludes with the EFF. The DA in the Western Cape doesn’t have to collude with anyone because they received enough votes. It would be the same in Gauteng if they received enough votes.

Bruce states that Cyril Ramaphosa has “consistently shown courage and rectitude” and then goes on to concede that CR is “weak”.

He concedes that a less than 58% ANC majority puts Ramaphosa at risk, acknowledging the Mabuza/Magashule faction plans to oust him. Yet 58% or 78% will make no difference to Ramaphosa’s enemies within, and you would have to be naive to believe it will. The stakes for them are just too high.

Land reform was so corrupted and mismanaged by the ANC that to appease the alliance, expropriation without compensation was introduced, with the required changes to the constitution to suit that agenda.

Some changes in personnel by Ramaphosa have impressed him, but still there has been zero accountability for any senior ANC member. This zero accountability has come after what is now common knowledge — the Guptas, Bosasa, Ace Magashule, Eskom, the National Prosecuting Authority, the police, Gangster State, The President’s Keepers, the Public Investment Corporation and the SABC.

To quote Bruce’s hero as per Mario Oriani-Ambrosini’s memoirs: “Our strategy to deal with whites would be like boiling a frog”. Mr Bruce, you are the turkey voting for Christmas.
