As the scientific world celebrated the first images of a black hole last week, the Free State ANC Youth League was doing its best to contribute to proving the theory of the late Prof Stephen Hawking. Its well orchestrated display bears testimony to the fact the black hole is not a scientific myth but a political reality destroying the ANC from within. Corruption is the black hole that is making the party impotent. If the youth league was not anti-books, I would have referred them to Hawking’s bestseller A Brief History of Time. Unfortunately, they would think I am talking about the big hole in Kimberley. It is ironic that the party of such intellectuals as Sol Plaatjie would respond to reasoned debate in Nazi style.
