LETTER: DA offers no alternative
The opposition party has to learn to talk more about what it is going to do for us and less about the ANC
After the launch of the DA manifesto on Saturday, it is very clear that the DA cannot offer us an alternative to the governing party, the ANC. The Good Party of Patricia de Lille is paralysing the DA in the Western Cape and on the other hand Cyril Ramaphosa is also doing fairly well for the ANC. I believe some of the people who didn’t vote for the ANC in 2014 or opted not to vote at all might vote for these two parties. The DA is talking about fighting corruption but it is very quiet on the allegations made against it where it governs, ie Johannesburg and Tshwane. If it wants to be taken seriously, it must also advise Johannesburg mayor Herman Mashaba to stop making reckless remarks about people he governs, especially on social media. The DA must also not fool us about running the best municipalities and the Western Cape. We know in Midvaal it claims to be the best, forgetting that the place is small and mostly urbanised. The DA has to learn to talk more about what it is going to do...
