Cape Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Janine Myburgh makes an excellent point that democracy needs an honest flow of news and that this is imperilled by social media (Social media threat, June 18). I trust therefore that the members of the chamber bear this in mind when placing advertisements. If most advertising is diverted to social media, newspapers will die, and so will reliable news.
