The Southern African Development Community and AU have said it is "imperative that SA take immediate action to prevent Zimbabwe imploding". Really? I thought that under the presidency of Robert Mugabe, Zimbabwe had imploded long ago and was now a basket case, economically and socially. The Zanu-PF elite have looted the country. Apparently army members found $10m in cash in finance minister Ignatius Chombo’s house. Clearly, this regional dispute will result in a regime change. But the symptoms that led up to the takeover are indistinguishable from the current crop of thieves and gangsters running SA. This is probably the reason for President Jacob Zuma’s concern about events in Zimbabwe. After all, Mugabe’s loss will be Zimbabwe’s gain. Nathan CheimanNorthcliff
