Because of corruption, crime and political instability, we are no longer the blue-eyed boys of the sporting world, thanks to Jacob Zuma and his ANC cadres. Although we were preferred bidders for the Rugby World Cup 2023, there were detrimental aspects that were taken into account in not awarding the tournament to SA. Corruption, political instability and crime no doubt played a significant part. The good news is that it cannot be taken for granted that SA will receive preferential treatment in future. That means we can focus on dealing with unemployment and uplifting the poor. Instead of trampling on the disadvantaged, we should elevate them by creating jobs. Obviously, the government has to apply its mind to this and work hard to solve these problems and come up with solutions. This can only happen when Jacob Zuma is out of power. Cheiman, Northcliff
