How ironic to see Julius Malema attending a function hosted by Thabo Mbeki, with Trevor Manuel sitting a few seats from him. This is the same Malema who, during Jacob Zuma’s rape trial, burnt T-shirts bearing Mbeki’s face. Malema stated on numerous occasions that he was willing to "kill for Zuma" and now he is fighting to have him removed from office. And remember how Malema once objected to our finances being controlled by "minorities", these being Manuel, Gill Marcus and Pravin Gordhan at the Treasury, Reserve Bank and South African Revenue Service, respectively? His wishes came true — all of the positions are now filled by black Africans. Just a pity SA’s debt is now considered junk when it was then investment grade. Now, the Sunday Times has tipped him as a possible future president of our country. Only in Africa (and the US these days). Derek AbrahamsVia e-mail
