The July 19 review, "Rigorous playbook has blind spot on Africa’s Big Men" of our book, Making Africa Work: A Handbook for Economic Success, refers. Every reviewer is entitled to their own opinion, of course, but in this case, David Gorin misrepresents what we write. Let’s take three examples in his review: He states: "The authors, like bubbly business leaders, see opportunities." We are, however, dramatically clear in our language why the book has been written now. As we note at the opening, "This book is a guide to improving Africa’s capacity for economic growth and job creation. Such a blueprint is especially needed at a time when African countries, many of them still poor, must prepare for a massive increase in population and, accordingly, the number of young people seeking employment. "We are hopeful about the prospects of African countries, but only if tough decisions are made now.
