As someone who also has a proclivity for high-end vogue, I could not fail to notice Finance Minister Malusi Gigaba’s mandatory daily attire. At any given time the value of his suit, shoes and chronograph must be in excess of R250,000. And the minister is yet to be seen wearing the same suit. Armani and Versace suits retail at upwards of R20,000 and a watch like Gigaba’s costs R200,000 or more. Not to mention the Martegani shoes at R10,000. Mind you, Mineral Resources Minister Mosebenzi Zwane is not far behind Gigaba in the fashion stakes. He also dresses lavishly. It’s a pity that neither can convert his penchant for vogue into his ministerial portfolio and apply his mind to fixing the economy instead of serving the ANC elite. Nathan CheimanNorthcliff
