Yawn. If Julian Denny wants to sustain his position that Israel is responsible for the nonprogress towards two states, he should at least come up with something new (Israel’s blatant violation, July 18). He knows, or should know, that the Palestinian Authority under Mahmoud Abbas talks from both sides of its mouth; it professes peace to be consumed by liberal audiences and useful fools such as him, but promises the destruction of Israel to his constituency. His other two points are actually silly: Hamas’s so-called new position was a desperate attempt to become relevant, but even then it could not resist reminding its followers that "it retains the goal of liberating all of historic Palestine" (meaning you know what); and yes, the original state offered to Israel by the UN was smaller than the 1967 borders, but that was predicated on a peaceful two-state solution, not a tiny Israel being attacked on all sides, which is what occurred.
