Trust Philip Lloyd to cling to contrived statistics as he proclaims the acceleration of renewable energy sources to be fake news (Fossil fuels unrivalled, July 11). It’s not fake news. He should know that acceleration is a rate of change. He conveniently compares absolute growth numbers instead of percentage change, to obfuscate the truth that renewables are accelerating. Fossil fuels usage remains far ahead at the current time, but renewables are catching up pretty quickly. The writing is on the wall and we in SA, as well as governments and business in the rest of the world, can read it. Mark TurnerHartbeespoort
