Julian Denny was spot-on in laying bare Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his right-wing government’s insincerity and sactimoniousness with regard to Palestinians (Netanyahu offers nothing, July 10). Sydney Kaye (Palestinians offer nothing, July 6) appears to be oblivious that Mahmoud Abbas and the Palestinian National Authority collaborate with Israel in maintaining Israel’s illegal occupation of the West Bank. As for the Palestinians themselves, what more can they offer Israel? In 1948, before the Zionists expelled the majority of Palestinians by means of terror and war, Zionists owned no more than 7% of historical Palestine. The colonisers of Palestine destroyed more than 500 villages, appropriated Palestinian property without offering any compensation and took possession of 78% of historical Palestine.
