The completely ill-informed, politically correct panic afflicting the DA leadership over Helen Zille’s colonialism tweet is telling. As a DA activist for the past 15 years, I am deeply concerned at the party’s response to a factually correct tweet. The policies of both the ANC and the DA prioritise the roll-out of colonial systems such as health and education services and running water, which seems to escape them. The DA seems to dislike the fact that Zille points out that Singapore took the best of colonialism and melded it into their way of doing things, producing a world leader. It seems that in the race for the black vote, the DA and many politically correct commentators are prepared to sacrifice facts and the white vote.
